Michael Toscano is a Sports Physiotherapist with a strong focus on ACL rehabilitation, post-operative care, and performance-based return to sport.
He holds a Master of Physiotherapy (University of Sydney) and a Bachelor of Exercise & Sport Science (Australian Catholic University). Michael’s approach blends evidence-based rehabilitation, targeted strength and conditioning, and hands-on treatment — with a strong emphasis on educating patients so they understand their injury, recovery timeline, and long-term outcomes.
Michael has a particular interest in knee and lower limb injuries, especially ACL reconstruction and complex post-surgical rehabilitation. He regularly works with athletes across field and court sports, while also treating general musculoskeletal conditions for the wider population.
Having personally undergone knee surgery and completed both pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, Michael brings a first-hand understanding of the physical and mental demands of recovery. This experience shapes his practical, empathetic, and performance-driven approach to care.
Professionally, Michael has worked with high-level sporting environments, including providing physiotherapy support to NPL first-grade football teams and most recently the Balmain Tigers AFL program. His background as a competitive footballer, including representation at NSW State level, allows him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and real-world sporting demands.
Michael has completed APA Level 1 & Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy, Level 1 Dry Needling, Level 1 Strength & Conditioning, and multiple postgraduate courses focused on ACL, lower limb, and sports rehabilitation.
He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
